A First Look at New $4M CACS Building

It's been a few years since Dennis and Shirley Eisnach last visited the Pierre City Commission at City Hall in Pierre, but they still know how to make an entrance!

Former Mayor Dennis and wife Shirley were on hand to debut an artist rendering of the new Capital Area Counseling Service building now in funding campaign across central South Dakota.

Dennis and Shirley are the Hughes County 'Building Better Tomorrows' Campaign Chairs and are among more than a dozen volunteers working to raise a total of $5 million to build and maintain a new main campus for CACS.

The architectural design is not final, but plans call for most of CACS's various offices and locations to be located under one centralized roof, a first in the agency's 48 year history.

The building itself is estimated to cost $4 million to construct while the campaign seeks an additional $1 million to establish an endowment fund to maintain the facility.

"We can't do this without the public," Dennis told the Pierre City Commission. "CACS is lucky to have the support they have, but something like this takes more."
